Learning, friendships, independence and figuring out what comes next.

Welcome to Teen Hub
Teen Hub is our small learning community for teenagers.
It's somewhere to learn, spend regular time with other young people, try new things, build confidence and (for our eldest teens) start thinking about life beyond 16.
There's more structure and direction as our young people get older, but we keep the flexibility, relationships and small-group approach that are at the heart of Thrive.
How it works.

Project-based Learning
A big part of learning at Teen Hub happens through projects.
Rather than always separating learning into individual school subjects, projects allow young people to explore a topic from different directions.
Depending on the project, that might bring together science, humanities, English, maths, technology, research, creativity and practical work.
Young people get opportunities to ask questions, research, discuss, create, think critically, solve problems and work with other people.
We also use trips, visiting facilitators and experiences outside the Hub to bring learning to life.

English & Maths
English and maths are woven through learning at Teen Hub rather than always sitting separately from everything else.
For our younger teens, many of these skills develop naturally through our project themes. A project might involve researching and presenting information, reading different sources, writing for a real purpose, measuring, budgeting, analysing data or solving practical problems.
It means young people can see where English and maths actually fit into the wider world, while still having opportunities for more focused teaching and support where they need it. As young people progress through Teen Hub, we can support them towards Functional Skills qualifications.
This allows the pathway to grow with the young person - building skills and confidence first, then working towards recognised qualifications when they are ready and when it makes sense for their next steps.
What else might a week include?
THRIVE Skills
There are lots of things young people need for adult life that don't fit neatly into English or maths.
That's where Thrive Skills comes in.
Across the year this can include:
Wellbeing • Life Skills • Digital Literacy • Financial Literacy • PSHE • Outdoor Learning • Entrepreneurship
These aren't just topics to tick off.
They're opportunities to develop things like critical thinking, problem solving, communication, teamwork, independence, confidence and self-esteem, and to start using those skills in real situations.
Learning Beyond The Hub
Teenagers need experiences as well as lessons.
Trips, outdoor learning, visitors and external facilitators give our young people opportunities to experience different environments, meet different people, develop practical skills and explore things we couldn't necessarily offer within the Hub itself.
Sometimes the learning that sticks with you most happens when you actually go somewhere and do something, or meet some-one new.
Preparing for Life Beyond 16
As our young people get older, particularly around 14–15, the question of “what next?” becomes much more real. College might be right for one young person. Another might be thinking about training, further qualifications, employment or a different route altogether.
We help our older teens explore their options, think about what interests them and understand what they might need to do next.
The aim isn't to push everyone towards the same destination. It's to help them become increasingly able to make decisions, advocate for themselves and take their next step with greater confidence and independence.
And time to be just a teenager!
Teen Hub isn't a timetable of worthy activities from the minute they arrive until the minute they leave.
There's time to talk, eat together, make friends, laugh, disagree, work things out, get outside and occasionally have a conversation take over what we thought we were going to do.
That's part of it too. Because for many of our young people, having somewhere they feel comfortable being themselves and a group they feel part of really matters.
Take a look for yourself.
